AP Dynamics was present at the 2020 Fluids Engineering Division’s Summer Meeting (FEDSM) conference. Richard Lozowy and Mario Forcinito presented the paper titled “On the Potential for Low-Frequency Control Valve Vibrations Being Caused by Upstream Oscillating Dean Vortices” uses large-eddy simulation to investigate flow-induced oscillations in pipelines at a natural gas compressor station.

Although the work was based on a real industrial application, it pushed the boundaries of scientific understanding for the interaction between Dean vortices and the downstream piping geometry.
